Me and my gal head to the game

Me and my gal head to the game

Any excuse to drink beer in the sun. And if there’s some baseball playing, all the better.

This afternoon, Kate, Josh and I went to Nationals Park to watch the Nationals battle the Atlanta Braves. The scheduling had worked out perfectly for my D.C. trip; obviously I’m a bit of a fraud when it comes to home teams, but I adopted the Braves when I lived in Atlanta a few years ago. This was my first time seeing them away from home and my first glimpse at the Nats and their stadium.

And much to mine and Kate’s joy and Josh’s chagrin, the Nats were pretty terrible.

We scored some semi-cheap seats, but as Josh rightly pointed out, there are no bad seats in the park. So we were able to swill beer, chow on hotdogs and put our hands to our chests for a song (I said I was a fraud) all with a great view.

I might not follow sports, but I love watching baseball. It’s low stress, sociable and the sort of thing you can dip in and out of without missing too much. And unlike football, I actually understand what’s going on.

And the Braves did Kate and I proud. The game whizzed by – the Braves scored nine without letting the Nats squeeze in a single run. By the end of it Josh was even considering switching teams (baseball that is).
