Yesterday’s trip to the Bluebell Railway clearly didn’t satisfy our need for old-fashioned Britain. Today Dyl, Mel and I headed to the South of England Showground in Ardingly for a Vintage Vehicle Show.
This is another example of me finally making the most of the things on my doorstep. I went to high school in Ardingly for four years and in that whole time, never went to the Showground – an 150-acre space which hosts various countryside events from livestock competitions to show jumping. (Well actually, put like that, it’s maybe not surprising I’ve never been.)
It was a beautiful day, so we took our time wandering the showground, admiring the vintage cars, bikes, trucks and farm vehicles, tasting local produce and even hopping on one 1950s tractor (as pictured above).
While Mel was won over by the fairground games and Dyl liked the military vehicles the best, I was particularly interested in the police cars over the years. And then we got back to sampling the treats.
Another lovely day in the English countryside.
