I have a pretty sore head this morning, but last night I think I went to a leaving party for my news editor, Danny. We all headed to the Jimmy, a gorgeous rooftop bar above The James New York hotel in SoHo.
As well as serving up copious amounts of alcohol and teeny tiny snacks, the bar provided amazing 360-degree views over the city. From its roof terrace (which has the world’s smallest swimming pool), you can see One World Trade Center, over the Hudson and across to Jersey. From floor-to-ceiling windows in the bar (and the loos), you can look out to the Empire State Building, the Chrysler and down to the busy streets of SoHo.
With such stunning views over Manhattan, I thought the only appropriate drink to go with the experience would be the aptly-named Manhattan, a chest-warming concoction of whiskey, bitters and a ton more whiskey. I’ve never had one before; it was good to try but probably won’t be my drink of choice in the future.
After taking in the view – which never gets tired – on a beautiful summer evening, I got back to the party. More pictures to come once everyone else shakes off their hangovers.
