I can never get enough of a good market, and now there’s a new way to get my fix: the Brooklyn Night Bazaar.
While this night market has been tried for short stints over the past three years, it now has a permanent home on the corner of Banker and Norman streets in Greenpoint. Every Friday and Saturday night from 6 until midnight, you can enter for free and check out local crafts, gifts and food. There are a couple of bars serving Brooklyn beers, tables to eat the delicious snacks, a stage for music and even rooms for mini golf and table tennis.
Ryan and I headed there after work and made a beeline for some scran. He opted for an apple and sage vegan sausage slathered in some sort of deliciously hot salsa from Rosamunde Sausage Grill while I had a spinach and ricotta risotto ball from Arancini Bros., which I discovered at Madison Square Eats – and which I’ve been dreaming of ever since.
Later, it was also followed by a trip to Sigmund’s Pretzels. I couldn’t believe all my favourites were here!
Then we browsed the stalls – and there was some pretty good stuff, from printed tees to jewellery, ukuleles to perfumes. We didn’t buy anything but I’ll definitely be keeping some in mind for Christmas gifts.
Afterwards, we decided to re-visit ping pong. Unfortunately, Ryan also revisited his superior skills and beat me 2-1.
While there aren’t a ton of stalls, there are definitely enough to get some pretty good crafts – but be warned they’re a little pricey. It’s a pretty relaxed night out though – beer, ping pong and those tasty, tasty risotto balls. What’s not to love?
