Tonight I battled the cold to walk a few blocks north to Bowery Electric, where I thawed out to a couple of sets in the Map Room.
It’s the first time I’ve been to the venue, which is owned by Jesse Malin and Johnny T, and is was reportedly a favourite haunt of Drew Barrymore and Kirsten Dunst. Tonight it got even cooler as Dylan’s band, Swampboots, took the stage.
With his fellow musicians – Paul, Brian, Dave and Corey – he played a handful of original songs and shook his tusch. Here’s a peek (of the songs, not his tusch):

(Apologies for the rubbish quality of the videos)
Two other musicians I really enjoyed were Myra Flynn – who had a beautiful, soulful voice but only performed covers – and Kate Davis who sang, played bass and was just flawless. We were all swooning.

A great atmosphere, even better musicians – and all for free. A brilliant way to spend a chilled out weekday night.
