Spring has finally shown its face and tonight I wanted to make the most of it. I’ve already been to the Brooklyn Bridge, so I decided to shake it up by heading over the Manhattan Bridge instead. And whereas I ran the previous time, tonight I opted for a different mode – a skipping rope.

The Manhattan Bridge stretches from Chinatown in Lower Manhattan to Dumbo in Brooklyn and, while it’s lesser known and much scrappier than the Brooklyn Bridge, it’s a much better walk (or skip). Even though the view is obstructed by a wire fence, you can see the Financial District skyline in its entirety, which is not as easy from the Brooklyn Bridge.
I also enjoyed how these sleek buildings provided a backdrop to the messy graffiti on buildings at the foot of the bridge. So I stopped skipping at various points along the way to get my breath back and to take some pictures as the sun set.
